Now it is not possible to play the media files (video files) in the browser. It stays on the first frame & flickers badly but the sound rolls on. Before upgrading the browser media files played fine.
I am using 32-bit version of XP. I use Internet Explorer.

| | Date: | Fri 03 Sep 2010 14:28:47 BST | | Subject: | Acer Aspire One ZG-5 | | | I have been mending an Acer Aspire One ZG-5 for a dear friend of mine. She tripped over hauling Power Supply lead, bashed or otherwise broke DC input Socket off motherboard.
By opening back edge of case I was able to push socket onto plug to make contact once again and taped Power supply lead down to stop it pulling off again.
Sucess!
The machine worked fine albeit a bit pointless being a netbook permanently and precariously attached to Power Supply!
It did show however that there was no further damage.
I have since bought a new DC socket, stripped down the machine, sucessfully soldered it on reassembled, and the battery charges nicely.
However it does not boot
Power light comes on (but won't toggle off again without removing battery) Hard Drive whirrs but no hard drive light.
I have tried connecting an external monitor to VGA out in case it's Display/display invertor but get no signal.
Any ideas what may be wrong?
I'm pretty meticulous generally and my soldering is really excellent though I say it myself!
Hard Drive currently removed to use/test elsewhere (it's fine) but should get boot up even without hard drive surely ?
Real Shame machine was working perfectly when bodged onto Power Supply and probably worth MY time just not anyone elses !
Would be REALLY grateful for any Pointers

Thanks SO much for such a useful resourse
I have an i-Friend NC202i4 which was given to me by a friend of mine, which I now know to be a Hyunju thanks to your site :-)
I now know far more about it's specs thank to you too and have located and replaced BIOS battery and located memory for imminent expansion.
I do have the original recovery discs which I am very pleased to have allowing me to "flatten" the system and start again quickly and easily, something I do like to do regularly as a matter of course.
The hard Drive has unfortunately failed and I have tried replacing it with a 120GB Samsung hard drive temporarily to test.
Now Finally the Question!....
The recovery disc(s) don't seem to work with the large drive and I wondered why?
Does the recovery disc require EXACTLY 20.00GB as the original drive was?
Does it require the Drive to be the EXACT original model --Toshiba MK2023GAS-- ?
It seems the original disc hangs during formatting.
Could I restrict the larger disc to 20.00GB then recover and then expand out to full capacity again?
I wondered if you could give me and pointers so I don't have to find either original drive or original Capacity Drive unless absolutely necessary
Thanks

Tried repairing Internet Explorer but I am still getting the error message when I attempt to open certain documents from web page.
Thought I would change to Firefox as you suggested but when I try to run the program this message comes up again and won't let me open it. I have even tried to install Internet Explorer 7 but encounter same problems.
Many thanks,
Kevin.
